🪔 The Birth of Lord Hanuman 🪔
Every deity has only one birth date, but for Lord Hanuman, two dates are celebrated!
🌟 The first is Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi
🌟 The second is Chaitra Shukla Purnima
While the first date is the “Birthday”, the second marks the festival of “Vijayabhinnandan”!
According to Utsavsindhu, on Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi, Tuesday, during Swati Nakshatra and Mesha Lagna, Lord Shiva himself appeared in the form of Hanuman in Anjani Mata’s womb!
According to Hanumadupasana Kalpadrum, on Chaitra Shukla Purnima, Tuesday, Hanuman was born adorned with a Munja waistband, Kaupin, and sacred thread (Yajnopavita).
It is also written that Kaikeyi offered holy rice pudding via a divine eagle, which caused Hanuman to be born from Anjani Mata’s womb.
In Valmiki Ramayana (Kishkindha Kanda 66 & Uttara Kanda 35), it is mentioned that Hanuman, born from Anjani, leapt into the sky thinking the Sun was a fruit to eat.
That day was Amavasya, and Rahu came to swallow the Sun, but mistook Hanuman for another Rahu and fled.
Then Indra struck Hanuman with his Vajra, which tilted his chin slightly — thus he was named Hanuman!
With the Sun’s blessing, in Mount Sumeru Kesari ruled, where lived the beautiful Anjani.
One day, after her holy bath and adorning fine clothes, Vayu Dev entered her ears and blessed her that her child would be radiant like Sun, Fire, and Gold, knowledgeable, wise, mighty — and so it happened!
Because of Indra’s Vajra strike, Vayu Dev stopped the air flow to protect Hanuman.
All other deities gave him different boons, making Hanuman invincible to all weapons, even Brahmastra!
