Rise of Adharma and Fall of King Vena (Emotion: Anger & Concern) King Aṅga’s wife, Sunīthā, who was the daughter of Death, gave birth to a son named Vena. Because of his evil nature, he completely rejected righteousness and became cruel and arrogant. Unable to tolerate his misrule, King Aṅga left the kingdom and went to the forest. The entire kingdom fell into darkness. The sages were filled with compassion and concern— if there is no king, what will happen to the people? The fast observed on this divine night is known as Shivaratri Vrat . “Shivalingatayodbhutah Kotisurya Samaprabha” According to the Ishana Samhita , on this day the divine Jyotirlinga manifested.
