The Complete Story of Devotee Prahlad ЁЯМ╕

Devotee Prahlad praying to Lord Vishnu with pure faith and devotion
ЁЯМ╕ The Complete Story of Devotee Prahlad

ЁЯМ╕ Devotee Prahlad

Prahlad’s father was named Hiranyakashyap, who was a demon ЁЯзЮ

His mother’s name was Kayadhu ЁЯМ╕

The sage Narad Muni was his guru, who taught him the mantra of Lord Vishnu ЁЯУ┐

Prahlad became famous for his unwavering devotion to Lord Vishnu

He is the supreme example of a devoted child ЁЯЩП

ЁЯМ╕ Hiranyakashyap’s Ego

Hiranyakashyap hated Lord Vishnu intensely because Vishnu had killed his brother, the demon Hiranyaksha ⚔️

To take revenge, he performed severe penance and pleased Brahma Ji, receiving a boon ⏳

That he would die neither in day nor at night ЁЯХ░️

Neither inside a house nor outside ЁЯПа

Neither by humans nor animals ЁЯР╛

Neither by weapons nor by astras ⚔️

Neither on earth nor in the sky ⛈️

Nor in any of the twelve months ЁЯУЬ

With this boon, he considered himself immortal and declared everywhere,

“I am God.”

ЁЯМ╕ Birth and Devotion of Prahlad

Kayadhu was pregnant with Prahlad and was blessed by the presence of Narad Muni ЁЯМ╕

By Narad’s teachings, devotion to Lord Vishnu sprouted in Prahlad’s heart even in the womb ❤️

From birth, Prahlad was calm, cheerful, compassionate, and a devout follower of Vishnu ЁЯЩП

ЁЯМ╕ Promotion of Devotion in Gurukul

Hiranyakashyap sent Prahlad to demon teachers Shand and Amark for education ЁЯОУ

One day, Hiranyakashyap asked,

“Son, what have you learned?”

Prahlad replied,

“The greatest knowledge is devotion to Lord Vishnu.”

Hiranyakashyap became furious ЁЯШб

He scolded the teachers, but Prahlad’s devotion did not diminish ✨

He also taught his classmates the path of devotion ЁЯМ╕

ЁЯМ╕ Persecution of Prahlad

Hiranyakashyap tried many ways to stop Prahlad’s devotion ЁЯТе

He threw him from high mountains ЁЯПФ️

Gave him poison ☠️

Tried to burn him in fire ЁЯФе

Crushed him with elephants ЁЯРШ

Thrown him among snakes ЁЯРН

But every time Lord Vishnu protected His young devotee ЁЯЩП

Prahlad always chanted, “Narayana, Narayana.” ЁЯМ╕

ЁЯМ╕ Holika Dahan

Hiranyakashyap’s sister Holika had a boon that fire could not harm her ЁЯФе

She tried to burn Prahlad by sitting in fire with him in her lap

But by God’s grace, Prahlad survived and Holika was burnt to ashes

This is commemorated as Holika Dahan ЁЯМ╕

ЁЯМ╕ Narasimha Avatar

Once, in anger, Hiranyakashyap asked Prahlad,

“Where is your God, whom you always remember? Tell me, where is He?”

Prahlad replied,

“Father, God is everywhere ЁЯМ╕”

Hiranyakashyap pointed to a pillar,

“Is your God in this pillar?”

Prahlad said, “Yes, Father, He is indeed in this pillar!”

Then from the pillar emerged Lord Narasimha ЁЯжБ

According to Brahma Ji’s boon,

He had a human body ЁЯзЮ but a lion’s face ЁЯжБ

It was neither day nor night ⏲️

He held Hiranyakashyap on His thigh ЁЯж╡

Neither on earth nor in the sky ⛈️

Neither inside nor outside the house ЁЯПа

He tore open Hiranyakashyap’s belly with His sharp nails ⚔️

It was done during the 13th month, the Purushottam month, which comes every 3 years ⏳

At dusk, Lord Narasimha killed Hiranyakashyap on His lap using His nails

Thus, according to Brahma Ji’s boon, He protected His devotee and destroyed the demon ЁЯЩП

ЁЯМ╕ Blessing of Lord to Prahlad

Lord Narasimha asked Prahlad to ask for a boon ЁЯМ╕

Prahlad said,

“Lord, I want nothing, only let devotion to You remain in my heart ❤️”

Pleased, Lord declared him a great devotee

And blessed him to rule righteously ЁЯМ╕

ЁЯМ╕ Attainment of Moksha by Prahlad

Prahlad devoted his entire life to the Lord and followed Dharma

Finally, remembering Lord Vishnu, he attained Moksha ✨
