King Ambarish’s Devotion on Ekadashi – A Story of Faith and Protection

Sudarshan Chakra protecting King Ambarish from demoness Kritiya in Ekadashi story
🪔The Story of King Ambareesh’s Devotion on Ekadashi🪔

🌸🌺 The Inspiring Story of King Ambarish’s Devotion on Ekadashi 🌺🌸

Shukla Ekadashi → Bright Half 11th Lunar Day

Krishna Ekadashi → Dark Half 11th Lunar Day

Ekadashi is one of the most sacred fasting days in Sanatan Dharma. 🌼
Among all Ekadashi stories, the devotion of King Ambarish shines like a divine flower of pure faith and surrender. 🌷✨

🌿🌸 The Sacred Vow of King Ambarish 🌸🌿

Once, King Ambarish and his devoted wife observed all the Ekadashi fasts for an entire year to please Lord Krishna. 🌺🙏

At the completion of the year, on the holy day of Dwadashi, they worshipped Lord Vasudeva with deep devotion and offered charity to Brahmins. 🌼🪔

Just as the king was about to break his fast, Sage Durvasa suddenly arrived at the palace. 🌸

🌺 The Anger of Sage Durvasa 🌺

King Ambarish respectfully invited the sage for a meal. 🌷
Durvasa accepted but went to bathe in the Yamuna River before eating. 🌊🌸

Meanwhile, the auspicious time to break the fast was about to end. 🌼
According to scriptures, if the fast is not broken at the proper time, it becomes fruitless.

After consulting the Brahmins, King Ambarish sipped only the Lord’s holy water (Charanamrit) to complete the fast properly. 🌺🙏

Using his spiritual powers, Sage Durvasa realized this and became extremely angry. 🌸🔥
In rage, he pulled out a lock of hair and threw it on the ground. From it emerged a terrifying demoness named Kritiya, whom he ordered to kill the king! 🌺

⚡🌸 The Destruction of Demoness Kritiya 🌸⚡

The fierce demoness rushed toward King Ambarish. 🌺

But the king stood calm and fearless, fully surrendered to Lord Vishnu. 🌷🙏

At that moment, Lord Vishnu’s divine Sudarshan Chakra appeared. 🌼✨
It instantly burned the demoness to ashes and then turned toward Sage Durvasa. 🌸

🌺 The Sudarshan Chakra Chases the Sage 🌺

Terrified, Sage Durvasa ran in all directions — mountains, caves, and oceans. 🌸
Yet the Sudarshan Chakra continued to chase him.

He went to Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva for protection, but neither could save him. 🌼🙏

Finally, he surrendered at the feet of Lord Vishnu and prayed:

“Lord, please protect me. I have committed an offense against Your devotee.” 🌺🙏

Lord Vishnu replied:

“I am bound by the devotion of My devotees. 🌸
You have offended My devotee, King Ambarish. Only he can forgive you.”

🌸🌷 Forgiveness and Compassion 🌷🌸

Sage Durvasa returned to King Ambarish and begged for forgiveness. 🌼🙏

Without pride or anger, the king immediately prayed to calm the Sudarshan Chakra and forgave the sage. 🌺✨

He respectfully offered him food with humility and devotion. 🌸🍃

The sage said:

“Today I understand the glory of the Lord’s devotees. Even after my mistake, you wished only my welfare. You are truly compassionate, O King!” 🌷🌺

🌿🌸 Attainment of the Lord 🌸🌿

After ruling righteously for many years, King Ambarish handed over his kingdom to his son and went to the forest. 🌳🌼

Through deep meditation and devotion, he ultimately attained Lord Krishna. 🌸✨🙏

🌺✨ Spiritual Significance ✨🌺

It is believed that anyone who reads or hears this sacred story on Ekadashi receives the blessings and spiritual merit of observing the Ekadashi fast. 🌸🙏🌼
