Pradesh. His father’s name was Atmaram Dubey and his mother’s name was Hulsi Devi. Devotees
respectfully address him as “Goswami Tulsidas”.
At birth, Tulsidas was considered inauspicious because he was born with 32 teeth. Due to this
superstition, his parents kept a distance from raising him. Later, a sage named Narharidas took him in
and named him Rambola.
🌸 Education and Initiation💥
From childhood, Tulsidas had deep devotion to Lord Rama. Narharidas taught him Sanskrit, Vedas,
Puranas, grammar, and religious scriptures. In Kashi, under the guidance of learned scholars, he
strengthened his spiritual and literary education. While living in Kashi, he began narrating the stories of
Lord Rama, and his personality became inspirational for everyone.
🌸 Marriage and Household Life💥
He married a Brahmin girl named Ratnavali. Tulsidas became very attached and would follow his wife
everywhere. One day, Ratnavali accidentally reproached him with these words, which awakened his
detachment. From that moment, his longing to see Lord Rama increased, and he never looked back.
Lines from Ratnavali’s words:
**“Laaj na aavat aapko dohreh aayahu saath,
Dhik dhik aise prem ko kaha kahu mai Nath |
Asthi charam man deh me taame aisi preeti
Vaisi jo Shri Ram me hoti na bhavneeti ||”_
Meaning: If you love Lord Rama with such devotion, then you can cross the ocean of worldly existence.
