The Divine Transformation of Ratnakar into Brahmarishi Valmiki

Ratnakar transformation into Sage Valmiki

🌸 The Divine Journey of Ratnakar the Robber to Brahmarishi Valmiki 🌸

🌼 Birth and Early Life 🙏

He was born in the Angira lineage.
However, while living among robbers, he adopted a life of looting and violence.
He began killing people.
Whoever passed through the forest was robbed and murdered by him.
For many years, he continued these cruel acts.

But now, the time for his redemption had arrived.

🌼 Meeting with Sage Narada 🪔

Suddenly, Sage Narada appeared before him.
Seeing Narada, Ratnakar immediately attacked him.

The robber Ratnakar said —
“Hand over whatever wealth you have, or you will lose your life.”

Sage Narada calmly replied —
“I only have this Veena. Take it if you wish, but why take a life?”

Ratnakar said —
“Play something on it for me.”

Sage Narada played the Veena.
Listening to the divine music, Ratnakar’s emotions began to change.

🌼 A Question About Life 🌹

Sage Narada asked —
“Why do you commit meaningless violence and kill innocent beings?”

Ratnakar replied —
“My family is very large.
If I do not do this, how will they eat?
My family shares my joys and sorrows,
and it is my responsibility to provide for them.”

🌼 The Truth About Family 🌻

Sage Narada said —
“Go and ask your family whether they will share the burden of your sins.”

Ratnakar replied —
“If I leave, you may escape.”

After persuasion, Ratnakar tied Sage Narada to a tree with a rope and went home.

At home, he asked his family and relatives.
They replied —
“It is your duty to feed us.
Do whatever you wish, but we need food.
We will not share the burden of your sins.”

🌼 Repentance and Surrender 🪔

Ratnakar returned, untied Sage Narada,
and fell at his feet.

Crying bitterly at Sage Narada’s feet,
he expressed deep remorse.

🌼 Teaching of the Divine Name of Rama 🙏

Sage Narada said —
“What has happened is in the past.
Now I shall give you a mantra that will wash away all your sins.”

Sage Narada asked him to chant the name of Rama,
but Ratnakar was unable to pronounce it.

After thoughtful consideration, Sage Narada said —
“Chant ‘Mara-Mara’ (death, death), which is the reverse of ‘Rama-Rama’.
With continuous chanting, it will automatically become ‘Rama-Rama’.”

🌼 Penance and Transformation 🪔

Following the teachings of Devarshi Narada,
Ratnakar began chanting “Mara-Mara” continuously.

For thousands of years, he remained seated in one place,
completely absorbed in the jewel of the Divine Name.

Anthills formed all over his body.
An anthill is called Valmika,
and thus he came to be known as Valmiki.

Earlier, his name was Ratnakar the robber.

🌼 Adi Kavi Valmiki 🪔

Later, he became the world’s first poet, the Adi Kavi.
He composed the great epic, the Valmiki Ramayana.

During their exile, Lord Shri Rama visited Valmiki’s ashram.
In the later period of the Ramayana,
Mother Sita stayed in this very ashram
and gave birth to Lava and Kusha.

Valmiki himself taught Lava and Kusha
the recitation of the Ramayana
and the knowledge of weaponry.

🌼 Conclusion 🙏

Thus, by the power of the name of Rama,
a cruel robber transformed into a Brahmarishi.

🌸 A Doha by Goswami Tulsidas 🌸

By the glory of the Divine Name,
the first poet became pure through reversed chanting.

The world knows that by chanting the Name in reverse,
Valmiki attained the state of Brahman.
