🪔 Shri Ganesh Chaturthi Vrat 🪔

🌸 In the month of Paush, on Krishna Paksha Chaturthi, devotees observe the fast called Ganesh Sankat Chaturthi Vrat.

🪔 Prayer Verse

📜 The shlok is “Mamasakalabhishta-siddhaye Chaturthi Vratam Karishye.”

🌿 This fast is dedicated to Lord Ganesh.

🌅 After a morning bath, take a resolve, remain silent during the day, and in the evening offer prayers to the moon before taking food.

🪔 The Story of the Vrat

🌸 According to legend, Mata Parvati created Ganesh from the dirt of her body and placed him at the door to guard it.

✨ Later, when Lord Shiva tried to enter, Ganesh blocked his way.

⚡ In anger, Lord Shiva unintentionally cut off Ganesh’s head.

🌙 The head went to the Moon Realm.

🌸 To appease Mata Parvati, Lord Shiva brought the head of a newborn elephant and attached it to Ganesh, creating the form we worship today.

🌿 Some stories say that Ganesh’s original head remains in the Moon Realm, which is why during this fast, devotees observe the moon and offer prayers.

🪔 How to Observe the Vrat

🌅 Begin the day by remembering Lord Ganesh and taking the resolve.

🕯️ Perform incense, light a lamp, offer fruits and food, and do the aarti.

🌸 Remain silent the whole day.

🍬 Offer 21 modaks to Lord Ganesh, remembering his sacred names while offering ghee, sesame seeds, and sugar.

🌿 In some traditions, devotees also prepare sesame sweets called tilkut.

🍬 Out of the 21 modaks, one is kept for Lord Ganesh, ten are offered to Brahmins, and ten are kept for oneself.

🌸 Once, there was a powerful king named Mayuradhwaj.

✨ His son went missing and could not be found despite searching.

🌿 At the request of the minister’s wife, the king and his family observed the Ganesh Sankat Chaturthi Vrat with full rituals.

🙏 By the blessings of Lord Ganesh, the king’s son was safely returned, and he served his father, King Mayuradhwaj, for life.
